Hi, I noticed in a recent post your son as ITP, which is an autoimmune disorder. You might want to check for the presence of other autoimmune disorders that can produce brain, heart and other organ damage, including tics or OCD in some cases. My DS was diagnosed sydenhams chorea after a bout of strep at age seven. He's now 12 and done well on prophylactic medications. We've not seen a severe recurrence of the movements or OCD since he was teated. Rheumatic fever and sydenhams chorea get a bad rap on tourettes boards. Sydenhams isn't the same as tourettes, for which there is no known bacterial or viral link or cure. However, some kids don't have tourettes, but get a hodgepodge of neurological problems with certain infections, which was the case for my son. Sounds like you have a good team of MDs working to help your son. You might want to ask about ruling out strep and other bacterial/viral triggers, because some are treatable. Feel free to email if you want info on our experience. All the best to your little one! Boychildsmom

Wow! I had no idea there could be an autoimmune connection. I will have to do more research. Thank you for letting me know!
